For many Atlantans, the start of the Yuletide season begins with Emory University's annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. Performed by the Emory University Concert Choir and University Chorus, this magical melding of scripture lessons read in conjunction with the performance of international carols has been an Atlanta tradition since 1935. Based on the traditional service at King’s College Chapel, Cambridge, this holiday program was drawn from sources ancient and modern by E. W. Benson, Bishop of Truro in 1880, and has been observed at Emory University since 1935. Käthe will be the organist for these services.
Tickets can be purchased here.
Please note, there are three performances: Friday 6 Dec @ 8pm, Saturday 7 Dec @ 4pm, and Saturday 7 Dec @ 8pm.
